Marie Mandroian Obituary
MARIE MANDROIAN, 92, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 10, at Carlsbad By The Sea Care Center in Carlsbad, CA. Marie was born in Fresno, CA on September 22, 1922. Marie lived an exceptionally full life, having traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. A pioneering young woman, Marie became an avid HAM operator (W6SPX) and was employed as one of California's first female radio disc jockeys in Riverside, CA. She met the love of her life, Harold Mandroian, in 1941, and they were married in 1945 after Harold returned from serving overseas in WWII. Building their home and growing their family in La Canada, Marie's professional career took her to Jet Propulsion Laboratory, LA County Health Department, and the Pasadena District Attorney's Office, where she retired in 1982. In addition to her myriad of skills and interests, Marie's primary strengths were her unwavering faith in God and dedication to her family. Marie contributed generously to the Ararat Home of Los Angeles and formed the San Diego Ararat Guild branch, where she enthusiastically served as president for several years. Marie is survived by daughter Nancy Mandroian Dittemore (Mel), son Gary Mandroian; four grandchildren, Bryan and Tyler Mandroian, Candice Mandroian Phipps (Charlie), and Kristina Dittemore Lowe (Perry); five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Michael, Alyssa, Jaxon, and Henley; brother Peter Onnigian, and loving nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her husband Harold and son Richard. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, February 17, at the United Armenian Congregational Church, 3480 Cahuenga Blvd West, Los Angeles 90068. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ararat Home of Los Angeles.
