Marillyn Mangel Shine Obituary
MARILLYN MANGEL SHINE
Marillyn (Bunny) Shine passed away peacefully at home on August 28, 2017. She was an only child, born July 5, 1924 to John Joseph Mangel and Sara deBeixedon Mangel in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Marillyn moved with her parents to Riverside, CA at the age of two, attended local schools and graduated from Riverside Polytechnic High School. She then earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
On June 12, 1943, Marillyn married Warren Frederick Shine, A Poly High classmate. Together they enjoyed their Riverside roots, raised their large family and, in retirement, traveled with friends and family. Warren passed away in 2011 just shy of his 90th birthday.
Marillyn was delighted to be able to celebrate a joint 90th birthday party with two childhood friends. They were joined by several other Poly High classmates for the occasion.
Marillyn is survived by her children Sara (Sally) Warjone and her husband John; Susan Liggan and her husband, Stuart; Warren Frederick Shine, Jr., and his wife, Kim; Daniel Shine; and Julie Terrell and her husband, David. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A service of thanksgiving in memory of Marillyn was held on September 23, 2017 in the Interfaith Meditation Garden at St. George's Episcopal Church in Riverside.
