Marion M. Kaufhold Obituary
MARION M. KAUFHOLD passed on 6/1/2015 at Kaiser Hospital in Sacramento, California with family and friends giving true support and love. He was born in Amarillo, Texas on November 4, 1931, and lived a very active life. Marion joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950 and his specialty was aircraft instrument mechanic (wiring jet airplanes). He was honorably discharged in 1954, receiving several commendations for his outstanding service. After receiving his H.S. diploma, he received his A.A. from Amarillo Jr. College and attended North Texas State University being roommates with his younger brother, Berkley. Using his service skills, he was employed in a civilian capacity both at Amarillo A.F.B. in Texas and Mather A.F.B. in Sacramento, California for over 30 years. Marion was an outdoorsman whose real love was for fishing, hunting and especially mountain bike riding in the Lake Tahoe and Northern California area. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and also active in Masonry for over 50 years and a Past Master of Masonry of the Palo Duro Lodge in Amarillo. Marion is survived by his brother Berkley Kaufhold (Paula), the widow of his brother Ross Kaufhold (Jean); nephews Steve, Hans, Don, Charlie, Lowell, and Gary Kaufhold and niece, Ivy Patten. He is also survived by 11 grand nephews and nieces, all of whom he adored immensely. Very close biking buddies included Casey & Kim McCullough of Chico, CA., Bruce Smith of Carson City, Nevada and David Byrd of Sacramento, California, to name a few. He will be buried at Riverside National Cemetery and arrangements are being completed by Miller Mortuary in Folsom, CA and Akes Family Funeral Home of Riverside. A family friend, Richard Burns, is assisting with the military ceremony which will be held on Monday, June 22, 2015 at 10:15am in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA.
