MARLENE MAE BRUGGE "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have ETERNAL LIFE." John 3:16 Marlene Mae Brugge passed away peacefully in her home on August 31, 2016 after her third battle with breast cancer. Marlene was born to Arlene and Earl Shepherd in Saginaw, Michigan on July 26, 1949. She was raised in Michigan on the Shepherd family farm until her family moved to Santa Barbara when she was in high school. On November 20, 1967 she married a U.S. Marine, Richard W. Brugge, who was stationed in Camp Pendleton but from her hometown. After Richard returned from Vietnam they moved to Oregon where they raised their two daughters. Marlene was a dedicated wife and mother. She volunteered at her daughters' school, as a Sunday school teacher, and as a bible teacher for Child Evangelism Fellowship in Eugene, Oregon. In 1989 they moved to Grand Terrace, California and subsequently Riverside where she remained active in her church. Marlene is survived by her daughter, Carmen Brugge McCree; her son-in-law, TJ McCree; her three grandchildren, Tiffany, Roman and Spencer McCree; six of her sisters; and two of her brothers. Marlene was preceded in death by her daughter, Candi Brugge; her husband, Richard Brugge; her sister, Gladys; her brother, Glen; and her parents. Her memorial service will be held at Cornerstone Fellowship Bible Church at 1190 Columbia Avenue, Riverside, CA 92507 on Friday, September 23rd at 11:00 am. A reception will follow the service. Memorial donations can be made to Cornerstone Fellowship Bible Church Missions Fund.
