Mary Ann Bastien Obituary
MARY ANN BASTIEN JAN 21,1937 - JUNE 14, 2014 Mary Ann Bastien, age 77, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2014. She died of Pulmonary Fibrosis at the Kaiser Hospital in Riverside, CA. Mary was married to Gil Bastien Sr. for 57 years and resided together in Corona, CA for the last 20 years. Mary passed away peacefully with all of her family present to share her last hours. She spoke to each of her family members individually and shared her love and advice with each to the last moments. She was highly loved by all her family and friends. Mary attended Garfield High School in East Los Angeles where she met Gil in the 10th grade. Mary was the prettiest girl in school and was fun to be with. She had many friends. Gil and Mary became good friends and sweethearts and were married a year after high school. Mary and Gil were devoted to each other and had 6 children. Mary leaves behind her beloved husband Gil, her two sons Gil Jr and David and her three daughters Veronica, Jackie and Debbie. Her son Michael died at one month of age. Mary also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, all of whom she greatly loved. Mary became ill in her mid 60's and the illnesses progressed until she passed away in June this year. Her illnesses did not deter her from being a devout Catholic Christian and prayer warrior or from giving all her love to all her family and friends. She had absolutely no fear of death because of her great love and trust in Jesus. Of Mary, it can be said that she was the very best of the best. She was Holy Spirit filled. She was the greatest wife a man could have in this world, the greatest mom that ever raised a child, and the greatest grandma (and great grandma). She taught all her children to love and respect others, to be moral and decent, to be good Christians, to be forgiving and obedient to Jesus and the commandments. With many tears all the family says so long to a great woman, and we all hope to be with her again in Heaven. Mary's viewing and rosary was given at Grimes Akes Family Funeral Home in Corona, CA on June 19, 2014. A mass was given for the repose of her soul at St. Mel Catholic Church in Norco, CA on June 21, 2014. Mary was buried at Resurrection Cemetery in Montebello, CA on June 21, 2014. Not a dry eye in the house. Arrangements are Entrusted to the Care of 500 W. 7th St., Corona, CA 92882 (951) 785-4071. Please go to www.akesfamilyfuneralhome.com and sign the guest book.
