Mary Kay Fera Obituary
(nee Hearons)
Longtime Corona, CA resident, passed away on May 12, 2017, at 82. The oldest of seven children, Kay was born and raised in Long Beach. A graduate of Wilson High School in 1952, she worked as a bookkeeper for several years, before marrying Lester Fera on November 30, 1957.
In 1966, Kay became a mother for the first time, and later gave birth to her second daughter in 1971. A devoted homemaker and devout Christian, she enjoyed serving the Lord, reading the Bible, watching movies and British TV (especially mysteries), and devouring the daily newspaper. She had a marvelous sense of humor, contagious giggle, and a beaming smile that filled up a room.
Kay was predeceased by her parents, Edward Justin Hearons and Margaret Kay Hearons. She is survived by her loving husband, Lester Fera; older daughter, Shelley Fera; younger daughter, Lesley Fera-Mochel; son-in-law, Ned Mochel; three sisters: Brooke Hicks, Robin Becker, and Shelley Spirlong; three brothers: Michael, Richard, and Edward Hearons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the staff on call in the I.C.U. at Pomona Valley Hospital and to Shirley Jackson of the Riverside Public Guardian's Office, for outstanding services rendered on Kay's behalf.
A private memorial for Kay will be held in early June. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider a donation to Wounded Warrior Project or Doctors Without Borders, two of Kay's favorite charities.
