Age 96, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on February 20, 2018 at Reston Hospital Center in Virginia. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Mary Anna Ramirez of Herndon, VA and grandsons Michael, John and David; stepsons Tom Estrada and Charles Estrada and his children Jesse, Sarah Beth, and Susan; and sisters Barbara Guanche and Rosemary Tortes. Born March 26, 1921, she grew up on the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians Reservation. A graduate of Hemet High School and Riverside Junior College, she attended nursing school and served as a sergeant in the Women's Army Corps during WWII. She then worked at the Gilman Hot Springs Resort and the Valle Vista Store. She made her home with her son's family later in life and greatly enjoyed the Herndon Harbor Adult Day Health Center. She was immensely proud of her Sioux/Luiseno descent and military service, and family was paramount. Affectionately known as "Maggie", she made new friends wherever she went, had a generous heart and marked her life journey with grace and beauty.
