Mary McBride Obituary
MARY MCBRIDE Age 92, passed away peacefully in her home in Upland on Sunday May 5, 2013 with her family by her side. Mary was born Margery Mary Rosencrans on February 19, 1921 in Kirksville, Missouri. She grew up in Vermillion, South Dakota, where she graduated from the University of South Dakota in 1942. She was married from 1948 to 1972, and raised her 3 daughters in La Puente, California. Mary worked as a secretary in the Computing Center at the Claremont Colleges and played an active role in the care and upbringing of her 6 grandchildren. As a life-long learner Mary pursued her hobbies and interests with enthusiasm, taking adult education classes on subjects such as genealogy and writing. She loved literature and reading, and was an active member of the Friends of the Jurupa Libraries, serving as President of the Glen Avon Library Chapter. The Los Angeles Lakers can claim few fans who were as devoted as Mary. Mary's great joy in life was her family, and she spent her final days in their company. She will be remembered by family and friends for her strength, her sense of humor, her intelligence and, especially, for her great kindness. Mary is survived by her 3 daughters, Nancy, Joan, and Marian; her niece Suzanne; 3 sons-in-law; 5 granddaughters; 1 grandson; 5 grandsons-in-law; 6 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grand-daughter.
