1920 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
MARY VIRGINIA STROUGH Mary Virginia Strough, 93, passed away on Nov. 17, 2013 in Corona, Ca. after a brief illness. She was born, in Chicago, Ill. on Sept. 11, 1920 to Roy and Grace Parlette and spent her early life in the "Windy City". After serving in the U.S. Navy, during WWII, she attended De Paul University earning her bachelor's degree and also graduated from the Chicago Conservatory of Music. While at DePaul, she met the love of her life, David A. Strough, and they were married in 1948. Over the next decade, after the birth of her two sons, Mary embarked on a teaching career that spanned nearly 30 years. She and her husband, David, who spent 52 wonderful years together, eventually settled in Corona in 1976 where they resided for 24 years until his death in 2000. She was an active parishioner of Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church, in Riverside, where she was the director of the Latin Mass Choir for many years, and most recently, was a member of San Secondo D'Asti Catholic Church in Ontario. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Sue of Riverside, Brian and Pat of Corona; granddaughters Erin, Heather and Kristin; grandson Daniel and great-grandson Michael. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and her loss will be deeply felt by her entire family. Viewing from 6 pm to 8 pm, Wednesday, Nov. 20th, with a Rosary at 7 pm at Thomas Miller Mortuary in Corona. Solemn Requiem Mass will be at 9:30 am on Friday, Nov. 22 at San Secondo D'Asti Catholic Church in Ontario. Burial will follow at Riverside National Cemetery.
