MAVIS GROVER 1916-2016 Mavis Tabitha (Smith) Grover, age 99, passed away peacefully June 8, 2016 in Sequim, Washington. She was born on November 13, 1916 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a daughter of Marvin Smith and Birdie (Harper) Smith. She grew up in Hemet, California with her older brother and three younger sisters during the great depression but with a strong faith in God. She met Charles Grover in 1929 as kids, and were married May 3, 1936. She was a strong and independent woman, a great role-model and worked hard for her family. One of her passions was owning and operating Saddlebag Lake Resort in California, with the help of family and friends for over 30 years. She was well known for her home baked pies and loved to crochet and make quilts. She was a long time resident of Menlo Park, California and then returned to Hemet, California where she rejoined and played an active role in her childhood church, now renamed, the Pilgrim Congregational Church. She is survived by her 3 sons: Richard Grover, Edwin Grover and Kenneth Grover, also 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Velma (Smith) Stough. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 2007, and her brother and two sisters. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 10:00am at the Pilgrim Congregational Church, 41861 Acacia Avenue, Hemet, where family will receive friends and family. Graveside services to follow the ceremony in the San Jacinto Valley Cemetery.
