Max Edwin Hoven Obituary
Max Hoven, age 87, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in his sleep at Desert Hills Care Center, Hemet CA. He was born December 23, 1929, the eldest of five children to Edwin and Treva (Stout) Hoven in Cedar Springs, MI. Max graduated from Cedar Springs High School and attended Michigan State University later entering the contracting industry working with his father building houses, commercial buildings and bridges. Max formed The Hoven Company, engineered and built one of the first "clean rooms" in the high tech industry and traveled the Far East and Europe designing and installing clean rooms for many years also working with NASA and JPL installing clean room facilities as they developed their space programs. Max is survived by his loving wife of 24 years Lois (Lee); his 6 children; 3 step-children; 28 grand- children; 16 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grand- children; his sister; brother and numerous nieces and nephews. He enjoyed playing golf and bowling and was an avid gun collector and "turn of the century" cowboy shooting competitor. As a young man, he tried Rodeo-ing for a short time. Later, he owned a string of show horses, which won many awards. Max was a member of Hemet San Jacinto Masonic Lodge 338, El Bekal Shrine of Anaheim, CA., past President of Ramona Shrine Club and was a past Patron of Tahquitz-Victoria #241, Order of the Eastern Star. Max served as Building Manager of the Hemet Masonic Center for 15 years before retiring. Memorial Service Saturday, August 5 at 2:00pm Hemet Masonic Center, 150 No. Laursen St., Hemet. Private inurnment at Elmwood Cemetery, Cedar Springs, MI. Please consider in Max's memory.
