Obituary Condolences

95, died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 5th. She and her husband, Ray Miller, moved to Riverside in 1955. They raised three children here, and by the time Ray became the Director of the Riverside Art Museum, Mickie was already doing her part for the community, helping to develop the now powerful Riverside Art Alliance. Mickie was also a longtime Assistance League member, who put in countless hours at the original A.L. thrift shop. She continued teaching part time as well, and her youngest students were always treated to "story time." Mickie's reading voice was a true delight, and her own children remember it fondly. Given her spirit, it was no surprise that even in her last year, Mickie could defy Alzheimer's by taking a caregiver's child aside and spellbinding her with the reading of a favorite tale. So if you would like to honor her passing, we suggest you follow Mickie's lead. Read to a child today. Mickie would love that. She is survived by her daughter, Marlayna, her two sons and their wives, Mark, Scott, Judy and Laura, and her grandchildren, Wendelin and Andrew.
