MELANIE MARIE TEDESCO Melanie was born November 14, 1941, and passed away Friday, August 14, 2015 at the age of 73 at her Riverside home. Melanie grew up in San Jacinto, California and graduated from Jan Jacinto High School in 1959. Melanie competed in many beauty pageants in her early years and won several, including The Farmer's Daughter and Miss San Jacinto. Melanie was crowned Queen Scheherazade at the Indio Date Festival and Miss Riverside County in 1960 and went on to compete in the Miss California pageant. In early 1960 Melanie met the love of her life, August Tedesco, when they were rehearsing the lead roles in "The Seven Year Itch" at Riverside Community College. Six months later, on September 21st, Melanie gladly gave up her title as Miss Riverside to marry August. Melanie had a short stint as an extra in several major Hollywood productions starring Elvis Presley, Doris Day and Elizabeth Taylor. Melanie loved nature and spent her summers for 40 years with her husband along the Payette River in their Garden Valley, Idaho cabin she designed. Melanie was full of life and loved all those around her. Melanie's love of life and nature showed in her artwork. Melanie painted murals in her home and sculpted countless beautiful works of art depicting everything from flowers to birds to elephants. Melanie is survived by her husband of 55 years, August Tedesco; her sister Melinda Padgett and her brother Richard Todd, both of Riverside and her brother James Todd of San Luis Obispo. A celebration of Melanie's life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church at 5969 Brockton Ave., Riverside, CA on August 25th, at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to local animal rescues or shelters, as Melanie loved all animals.
