MERCEDES A. GUERRERO Mercedes passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, October 22, 2012 at her son Johnny's and daughter-in-law Nancy's home in Riverside at the age of 98. She was born in Riverside, California on September 24, 1914 to Bernardino and Theodora Alcaraz and was a lifelong resident of Riverside. Mercedes was married to John Guerrero for 50 years, who was also a lifelong Riverside resident. They had five children: Irene Seitl of San Jacinto, CA; John Guerrero of Rubidoux, CA; Margaret Larson (now deceased) of Oceanside, CA; Louie Guerrero of Providence, RI; and Helen Guerrero-Randall of Bend, OR. Mercedes was a very caring and loving person and devoted her time volunteering at Eddie D. Smith Senior Center and the General Election voting polls in Sunnyslope for many years. Her hobbies were quilting and sewing beautiful items for her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Guerrero, Sr. and her daughter Margaret Larson. She is survived by her sons, John and daughter-in-law Nancy, Louie and daughter-in-law Tina and her daughters Helen and Irene and son-in-law Andy, and son-in-law Gil. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and many of our aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom were very dear to her. Our mother touched everyone she knew, especially all of her family. She was the shining light in our lives and was dearly loved by her family and friends. She was our angel on earth and we were blessed to have her in our lives, we will miss her greatly. Visitation will be on Monday, October 29 between 4pm-8pm, with a celebration of life at 6pm at Rubidoux Mortuary - Kimberly Family Chapel, 6091 Mission Blvd. in Rubidoux, 92509. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at St. John's Catholic Church, 3980 Opal St. in Rubidoux, 92509 at 11am, Tuesday, October 30; with gravesite service following at 12:30pm at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., in Riverside 92518. Arrangements are under the direction of Rubidoux Mortuary - Kimberly Family Chapel, 951-683-2215.
