MICHAEL D. DEPHILIPPIS
March 16, 1957 – February 19, 2017
Michael D. DePhilippis of Temecula, CA, Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and precious Friend to all who knew him, passed into the loving arms of God unexpectedly.
Mike D as he was known by many, was born in San Diego, CA to Roberto And Pat DePhilippis and attended Patrick Henry High School.
He went on to follow in his father and family's footsteps in the restaurant business, managing the Butcher Shop Steakhouse and eventually opening two Filippi's Pizza Grotto's, in Temecula and East Lake.
He was also known around San Diego as a fantastic athlete in multiple sports, and especially golf. Through his passion for golf was affectionately known as one of the best putter's in town. Mike was a most giving and shining role model to all who knew him and his "star" will shine brightly in our hearts and memories forever. Mike DePhilippis was a selfless, loving, hardworking family man who took care of everyone and worried about himself last. He created such an amazing community and family through Filippis Temecula the last 24 years, for a chance to spend time with him was an honor. Mike wasn't just a boss to his employees he was a mentor, father, brother, filippis was his extended family. He is survived by his loving wife Norma; daughter Domonique; son Sergio; daughter-in-law Sabrina; grandchildren Gabriel, Giuliana, Madelyn, Michael, Rocco, and brothers Bobby and Mark.
Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 2nd at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Chula Vista, CA at 10:45am. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to support brain tumor research at Children's Hospital Los Angeles in Mike's name. Checks can be made payable to "Children's Hospital Los Angeles" with "in honor of Mike Dephilippis" in the memo line.
