Mildred Arlene "Millie" Slaten Obituary
MILDRED ARLENE "MILLIE" SLATEN Born November 10, 1925, in Kersey, Oklahoma to Charles and Mary Grounds, Millie married her childhood sweetheart, Joe Slaten, on June 1, 1946. They moved their family to California in 1958 settling in Riverside. Millie worked many years for Rohr Aircraft, the State of California, and the California School for the Deaf. After retiring she volunteered in the gift shop at Kaiser Hospital, contributing over 20 years of community service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Slaten; her younger brother Doyle Grounds, and is survived by children Pam King (Terry) of Upland, Steve Slaten (Marci) of Riverside; brothers, Charles and, Kenneth; sister Sandra of Oklahoma; grandchildren Kimberly, Jessica, Brian, Adam and Jenna; eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Millie Slaten remained vibrant, curious, compassionate, and engaged her entire life. Those wonderful traits greatly influenced her family, and many friends. Services will be held at Acheson & Graham Mortuary, 7944 Magnolia Ave, Riverside Ca, on July 9, 2014 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her name to Magnolia Church's building fund, 8351 Magnolia Ave. Riverside Ca, 92504.
