MILTON JAMES BETTIS, 94, passed away Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 at home after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. His wife Ellen was holding his hand when he went home to heaven. He was born Jan. 9, 1920, in Delta, Colorado to Rossie and James Bettis. On April 29, 1950, he married Betty Bond who died April 23, 1998. On April 10, 1999, he married Ellen Brantley who survives. When Milt was 80, he and Ellen moved to Panorama Village in Hemet, CA where he learned to play golf, attained a low handicap and had 7 holes in one. He is survived by son Bill (Michele) Bettis; daughter Vivi (Bill) Perry; step children Michael Brantley, Kate (Bob) Wiseman, Shawn (Kandie) Brantley, Lisa (Ken) Paxson, Mary (Brett) Pace; grandchildren, Gary Crumpton, Wendy Haut, Lena (Richard) Brophy, Micah (Emily) Bettis, 8 step grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Betty, siblings Mae Burch, Lola Jenkins, Roy, Lester, Harold and Willis Bettis. He donated his body to Research for Life. Thanks to Cornerstone Hospice. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Panorama Village Clubhouse, 1401 Teakwood Pl., Hemet, Sunday, February 16th at 1 p.m.
