MYRA S. PARKER-HUMPHREY Myra passed away on March 10, 2013 in Riverside, California from complications due to Parkinson's disease. Born in Colon, Panama, June 20, 1940 she came of age in New York City where she started a family and studied fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. In 1976 she moved to Riverside, California and pursued higher education completing a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Cal Poly Pomona in 1983. She became a quality control engineer at General Electric where she supervised the production of turbine jet engines, one of the only women in this position. Upon retirement she and husband James Humphrey opened Shades of Art, a gallery, a mainstay in downtown Riverside for 15 years. When Shades of Art closed its doors in 2007 they moved to Surprise, AZ where Myra became an active member of the Red Hats and was treated at the Muhammad Ali Parkinson's Center in Phoenix, AZ. Myra was well known for her glamour, generosity, and delightful personality. She was well loved and will be missed. Myra is survived by husband James Humphrey; children Suzette Parker Cruz Sayles, Samantha Parker, Rodney Parker Jr., stepson Aaron Humphrey; son-in law Dijuan Sayles; grandchildren Quinn Cruz, Kush Parker-Cooke, Avery Sayles, Madison Parker, Brooklyn Parker; great grandchild Noah Evan Cruz; siblings Yolanda De Leon, Leopoldo Mandeville, Armanda Weeks; numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in law. There will be a memorial mass at 9:30am on Friday, March 15, 2013 at St Catherine's Church in Riverside, CA (corner of Arlington & Brockton) followed by a reception at the church hall. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to the Muhammad Ali Parkinson's Center, St. Josephs Hospital and Medical Center, 240 W.
