MYRTLE DELLAPHENE SCHARFFENBERG Myrtle was born December 5, 1920, in Bangkok, Thailand, to Ezra and Inez Longway. She spent most of her life in China until she started college. On June 18, 1942, she married her childhood sweetheart Richard S. Scharffenberg in South Lancaster, Massachusetts. She went to her rest October 23, 2016, at the home of her daughter Barbara in Cherry Valley, California. Myrtle looked forward with hope to the resurrection and meeting her Savior face to face. Myrtle is survived by her 9 children: Shirley Mann, Delbert (Charla), Lloyd (Paula), Julia (Joe Williams) Courtney-Williams, Susan, Beverly (Sam) Liou, Barbara (Douglas) Von Kriegelstein, David (Michelle Rypinski), and Ralph (Darla); 22 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great grandson; one brother, Ralph (Berryl) Longway; one brother-in-law, John Scharffenberg; nieces and nephews and their offspring, and her honorary grandson Abraham (Kim) Boateng. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband Richard in 2003, her brothers Delbert and David Longway, and her sister Eva Currie. A memorial service will be held at a later time. Condolences may be sent to Myrtle Scharffenberg's family, 40372 Grand Avenue, Cherry Valley, CA 92223. Myrtle loved all children and was actively involved in projects for children around the world.
