NEATA McALLISTER Neata McAllister passed away peacefully, at home, on Monday September 16, 2013. Neata was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, John McAllister who passed away June 23, 2010. Neata was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on March 17, 1921 to Caswell and Mary Phillips. Moving into Winnipeg from the family farm in Hodson, Manitoba when their parents died the 5 children stayed together supporting each other as they went through their post high school education. Neata graduated from Victoria General Hospital as an RN in 1942. After graduation she worked as an RN in Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. She married John in 1950. They moved to California in 1952 to start a new life in Los Angeles. Not being blessed with children Neata and John traveled the world, many of those vacations were with friends and planned around golf. In California Neata worked as an RN in a specialist office until retiring in 1986. Moving to Murrieta, California in 1992 they pursued their love of golf settling into their new home in The Colony, a then new complex with it's own golf course. Neata was an active member of the Colony Woman's Golf Club well into her 80's. Neata leaves behind her nieces Judy Taylor (Frank) of Delta, B.C., Nancy Richter (Wilf) of Calgary, Alberta; nephews John Dunwoody (Sue-Ann) of Melbourne, Australia, Todd Phillips of Oyama B.C., and Brent Phillips of Richmond B.C., as well as many great nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held Thursday, September 26th, 6 to 8 PM at the Murrieta Valley Funeral Home, 24651 Washington Ave., Murrieta. CA. A Funeral Mass for Neata will be held at St. Martha's Catholic Church, 37200 Whitewood Road, Murrieta, California, on Friday, September, 27, 2013 at 10 AM. with interment at Laurel Cemetery, 42800 Ivy St. Murrieta following the service.
