NELLREEN "NELL" OREBO MAYS Nellreen Orebo Mays, passed into everlasting life in Heaven on Friday, November 25, 2011. She was 87 years old and died of natural causes. In 2006 she moved to Hesperia, California to be with her daughter, Jo. She was born October 9, 1924, in Iota, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Sgt. Ret., Elroy Stanley Mays, her mother and father, Eva Denise and Leonard Orebo; sisters Eula Dumas, Frances Hill and Marjorie Guillory; brothers Horace, Bruce and Billy Orebo. Nellreen was known for her many artistic talents, cooking abilities, generosity and devotion to her family, community and church, St. James Catholic Church of Perris, CA. She is survived by her sons Wayne and Michael Mays; her daughters, Michelle Thuringer, Stephanie Randle and Jo Collins. She also leaves behind her sisters, Myrtle Grace, Velma Phillips, Teresa Ferguson and Leona Hayes. Nellreen is survived and blessed by eight grandchildren; Guy Gardner, Chinelle, Nicole, Karla and Royce Mays, Brandi Hempstad, Jeryn and Tristin Mays, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Tillman Riverside Mortuary, 2874 Tenth Street, Riverside, Ca 92507. Catholic services will be performed by Father Gomez at St. James Catholic Church, located at 260 West Third Street, Perris, California 92570, on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at 10:00am. A graveside service will follow at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, Ca 92518. Repast immediately following services. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Nellreen's name to VNA Hospice of the Inland counties, 12421 Hesperia Road, Suite 11, Victorville, Ca 92395, for their tireless and selfless acts of compassion, care and kindness.

My deepest sympathies to the Mays family during your time of loss. I remember your parents very well, especially your father who gave great advice that I follow to this day. You were one of the nicest families and over the back fence neighbors any one could have.My prayers are with you.
