NELSON DEAN CHASTEEN passed away at his home December 15, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jo Ann; son Craig of Whitewater; daughter Jodi of Cathedral City; five grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Graduated with BA in English from Illinois Wesleyan University, Master of Divinity from Emory University and Master of Social Work from USC. Ordained as a pastor in the Congregational Church, commissioned in the US Navy as a chaplain and in Vietnam served with Second Battalion Ninth Marines. He received a Bronze Star with V plus the Purple Heart. He pastored at First Congregational Church of Perris, then became an LCSW for San Bernardino County and Kaiser Permanente Medical Group. He was a loyal member of the Moreno Valley Mall Walkers. Services: Tues., Dec. 29 at 9:30am at Riverside National Cemetery with a Memorial Service at 11:00am at First Congregational Church in Perris, reception to follow there. Memorials may be made to First Congregational Church of Perris, 100 N "A" St., Perris, CA 92570 or to Hospice of the Valleys, 25240 Hancock Ave., Ste. 120, Murrieta, CA 92562.
