Nick was born in Chicago and raised in New Jersey. After earning a degree in civil engineering, he joined the Army. He was stationed in Germany and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. After an honorable discharge in 1970, Nick continued working for the Department of Defense as a civil engineer in New York, Italy, Germany, and Pennsylvania.
Nick and his wife Eva moved to Temecula, CA in 2000, after retiring from civil service. Never one to sit idly, Nick earned his teaching credential and taught history at local schools. He continued his lifelong hobby of collecting and writing about stamps. He enjoyed the Symphony and Jazz Music. He served as president of the Riverside Chapter of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association. He was active in the Democrats of Southwest Riverside County organization. In 2014, Nick ran for the California State Assembly, District 75.
Nick died peacefully on Feb 7, 2017, after a long battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his brother Bruce; daughter Michele; son Paul; granddaughter Stephanie and great granddaughter Melissa.
Nick's thirst for knowledge and wonderful sense of humor touched the lives of so many. He is missed.
