Noemi Perez Matos Obituary
Noemi Perez Matos Rivera was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico on January 17, 1928 as the youngest of her mother's 21 children. At age 13 she moved with her parents and two brothers to The Bronx, New York where she met and married Jose Angel Perez at age 18. She had three children, Melvin, Jose Daniel (Danny) and Doris Celeste, who were raised in The Bronx and, later, in Paterson, New Jersey. During those years Noemi worked as a seamstress in the sweat shops in The Bronx and in Paterson.
She and her husband moved to Riverside, California in 1974 and remained there until 1986 when they moved back to Puerto Rico. Her final move came in 2003 when she moved back to Riverside to spend her remaining years with her daughter, Doris, and her husband, Dan. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, early in the morning of October 17, 2017.
Noemi was predeceased by her parents, all of her siblings, and her son Danny (in 1969.) She is survived by her son Melvin (Lissette), her daughter Doris (Dan), 8 grandchildren and step-grandchildren and 17 great and step-great grandchildren.
Noemi was a woman of great faith and was actively involved with the Spanish SDA Church her entire life. She leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends and brothers and sisters in the Church. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the Campus Hill Church located at 11057 Hill Drive, Loma Linda, CA 92354.
