Nora Lee Porter Teasley Obituary
NORA LEE PORTER TEASLEY of Riverside, CA passed away on June 1, 2015 at Kaiser Hospital, Riverside. Nora was born on October 25, 1937 in Riverside. She was a fourth generation Californian, the daughter of the late Frank L. and Arline R. Porter. She attended Riverside schools, graduating from Poly High School in 1955. She earned her B.A. in Business Administration from Humboldt State College, her M.B.A. at California State University, San Bernardino and a Master of Business Taxation at U.S.C. Nora was a Certified Public Accountant who began practicing in the Inland Empire in 1972, as a member of several area firms. She became a founding partner of Ahern Adcock Devlin, LLP, in 2000 and continued to work there until her hospitalization. Nora was an active volunteer for the following organizations: Kiwanis Club of Riverside, Riverside Philharmonic Symphony Foundation, YWCA of Riverside County Professional Women's Council, The Community Foundation, Riverside Volunteer Center, and many others. Nora was a strong woman of faith and was very active with her home church, Immanuel Lutheran Church and School. She sang in the choir and played with the handbell choir. She served on various boards including J.O.Y. (Just Older Youth) and the Endowment Board. When Nora was not working or participating in her various organizations, she enjoyed square dancing, traveling to many countries, attending concerts and theater events. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters. She will be dearly missed by all. Nora is survived by Winford "Win", her beloved husband of over 58 years; her son Andrew (Cynthia) of La Quinta, CA; her daughter Wendy (David) Price of Riverside; her three granddaughters Katie Teasley, Janelle and Katrina Price; her sister Carol (Dave) McAnern and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother F. Glenn Porter of Kannapolis, NC and sisters D. Wyona Gillum and Moira K. Walker of Riverside. Services will be held Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church and School, 5545 Alessandro Blvd, Riverside, CA 92506. Interment will be at Olivewood Memorial Cemetery followed by a reception at Immanuel Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Endowment Fund.
