Norman Ray Brouse Obituary
NORMAN RAY BROUSE FEBRUARY 21, 1922 - JANUARY 9, 2013 Norm passed away peacefully in his home of 50 years in Riverside, CA at the age of 90. Norm was born in Oroville, CA; moving with his parents to El Centro in 1931, Algodones Dunes in 1933, before settling in Riverside in 1937. Norm received his diploma from Riverside Polytechnic High School, Associate of Arts degree from Riverside City College, and Bachelor of Laws degree from Citrus Belt Law School in 1977. During WWII Norm was a pilot and flight instructor in the Army Air Force, reaching the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He was stationed in Hobbs, NM, awaiting assignment overseas, when the war ended. On November 12, 1949, Norm married Gwendolyn Irene Smith Wictor, the love of his life. They had two children, Sandra Rae and Raymond Alan. Norm worked for Riverside Savings and Loan Association for 22 years. He began as an Appraiser and was promoted to Executive Vice-President before retiring in 1985. He was an active member of Kiwanis International. With the exception of his years in the service, Norm lived in CA his entire life. He was passionate about hunting and fishing and loved to tinker with anything and everything. In 2000 Norm's wife Gwen pre deceased him. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sandi and Oscar LaVan Tenney, of McArthur, CA, and his son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Lisa Marie Brouse, and two grand-daughters Mary Kate Brouse and Monica Nicole Moseley of Arroyo Grande, CA. Norm will be missed by his family and friends. But he left us with many great memories. A memorial service will be held at Eden Lutheran Church, 4725 Brockton Ave., Riverside, CA 92506 on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at 10:00 am followed by refreshments in the Fellowship Hall. Norm's remains will be buried with Gwen's at Riverside National Cemetery. Donations in his honor may be made to Eden Lutheran Church.
