IN LOVING MEMORY OF OAKLEY JOSEPH DUKE "O.J." Beloved husband, father, brother, grand-father and great grandfather. Oakley was born February 12, 1920 in Estill County, Kentucky and passed away peacefully at home on October 22, 2012. He is survived by his 2 brothers Shelby and Vernon of Kentucky; his sons Mike of Yorkshire U.K. Phillip of Capistrano Beach, Ca and John Duke of Riverside, Ca; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He grew up with his parents, 9 brothers, and 3 sisters in Kentucky. At 17, he left for California to work with the California Conservation Corp. making trains and stringing phone lines. Soon after, he joined the U.S. Army where he served in the European theater of operations. While stationed in England, Oakley met and married Elizabeth Amy Palmer on May 29, 1945 in the district of Sodbury in the U.K. After the war, they resided in Kentucky until they moved to California in 1949. They lived in L.A. County until 1959 when they moved to Riverside where they owned a chicken ranch. Oakley worked as an aero space engineer for Northrup, Aerojet General and Bournes Inc.
