PATRICIA MAY LOVITT (Granny of Granny's Kitchen) passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 12, 2015 in Bakersfield, CA. Born 1934 in Los Angeles, CA to James and Dorothy Campbell. Patricia graduated class of 1952 from John C. Fremont High School in Los Angeles, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband B.J. Maier in 2001. Four surviving children. Colleen Maddy, Eileen Lovitt, Rosemarie Dermer (Husband Michael) of Bakersfield, CA and Cathy Brooks of Fountain Valley, CA and six beloved grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Shirley, Michael, Kristin and Tony. Patricia was one of the original carhops at "The Clock" in Lynwood, CA. She worked many waitressing jobs to support her family and went on to start her own catering business. Patricia's great love was Granny's Kitchen in Lake Elsinore, CA in which she operated for 22 years and made many life long friends. Patricia was very active in the Lake Elsinore community volunteering her talents to feed the poor and homeless, often joining forces with the Lake Elsinore Masonic Lodge during the 1990's to provide meals for local seniors and shut-ins. Patricia was also a founding member of L.E.A.F (Lake Elsinore Animal Friends) and raised important funds for the local animal shelter. Granny retired in 2001 and moved to Bakersfield, CA to be with her children. Thank you to everyone in the Lake Elsinore community who supported Granny's Kitchen on Graham Ave and to the many dear friends who were part of Patricia's life. Viewing and visitation at 4 to 8 p.m. with rosary at 6 p.m., Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Hillcrest Memorial Park Chapel, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd, Bakersfield, CA. Funeral Mass, Friday, January 23, 2015, 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 124 Columbus St., Bakersfield, CA. Burial following mass at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Marley's Mutt's Dog Rescue C/O Erin St. Clair, 22004 Golden Star Blvd, Tehachapi, CA 93561 or to Optimal Hospice, 1675 Chester Ave, Ste. 401, Bakersfield, CA 93301.
