/1947 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
PATRICK WALTER BARRETT Age 67, passed away on 12/6/2014 at Riverside Community Hospital from cancer. He was born on 7/1/1947 in Riverside, CA. He served in the U.S. Army, Sgt, for 2 years and was a Vietnam Veteran. He worked for Riverside, San Bernardino Counties Fire Equipment as an Installer for 28 years. He was the most wonderful husband, father, grandfather and Coach for Jurupa American Little League. Pat devoted the last 28 years working with the children of the community of Jurupa American Little League. He was a devoted manager or coach the entire 28 years. Over the years, he also served on the board in positions such as President, 2nd Vice President and Safety Officer, just to name a few. Along with another long term coach and manager, he took a Big League Girls Softball team to the Little League World Series in 2003. Pat's legacy will always live with the children of the community. He was also a devoted member of Word of Life Ministries Int'l where he had the God given blessing to go on a mission's trip to Nigeria. Patrick is survived by his wife Tiona R. Barrett of Riverside, CA; daughters Samantha Deckard and Jennie Barrett, both of Riverside, CA; sons Michael Schlenker I; Mark Schlenker, both of Riverside, CA; sisters Susan Curtis of Napa, CA, Lynette Rubio and Kathleen Orton, and Bonnie Little, all of San Bernardino, CA; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Harold Schlenker II; and parents Richard O. Barrett and Carolyn G. Barrett, of Bloomington, CA. Visitation: Monday, 12/15/14 from 5-8 pm at Acheson and Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, 7944 Magnolia Ave., Riverside, CA 92504. Funeral Service: Wednesday, 12/17/14 at The Grove Community Church, 19900 Grove Community Dr., Riverside, CA 92508. Burial immediately following service at Riverside National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Jurupa American Little League.
