PAUL DUDLEY WILSON April 30, 1929 - October 9, 2012 Paul died quietly at home on October 9, 2012 after a long period of decline. He was born on April 30, 1929 to Paul and Irene (Shope) Wilson, the oldest of three children, and grew up in Palatine, Illinois. He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955, and attended the University of Chicago on the GI Bill. Paul met his wife, Barbara, in a psychology class at the University, the beginning of a 55-year marriage. He received his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Chicago in 1964. Paul was hired as a temporary lecturer at the University of California, Riverside in 1966, and he remained at UCR, retiring as Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience in 1993. As Emeritus Professor he continued to teach until 1996. After his retirement Paul became a Riverside County Youth Accountability Board member, and was active in the LIFE Society at UCR. He loved trees and mountains and spent happy times outdoors, hiking, skiing, and spending time with his family. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, playing poker, attending concerts, and reading. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Elizabeth Wilson, Peggy Cartwright and her husband Darin and their sons Eric and Ryan, Tom Wilson and his wife Penny; his sister Mary Kelsey; and also by his caregiver, Sarah Anderson. His parents and his brother John predeceased him. A memorial service will be at First Congregational Church, at Mission Inn Avenue and Lemon Street, on Monday, October 29th at 2:00, with a reception following at the church.
