PAUL GERALD RACICOT
Paul Gerald Racicot passed away at his home in La Quinta, California, on May 7, 2018 at the age of 92. He was born on November 19, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan to Polydore H. Racicot and Helen E. Racicot and grew up in Detroit, Michigan and in El Monte, California. After having served in the Navy during WWII, he married Eleanore (Wischka) Racicot in 1948 and graduated from the University of Detroit with a degree in engineering in 1952. He lived for many years in Riverside, where he raised his family of 6 children, worked at Hunter Engineering specializing in aluminum extrusion, and later was owner and the operating partner of Easy-On Mfg. Company. Paul and Eleanore divorced in 1976. He lived in Truckee, CA for a number of years before retiring to La Quinta. Paul was an avid sportsman, who loved hunting and fishing, as well as golf, skiing, tennis, and handball. He was a race car enthusiast and actively followed local drivers, especially in the days of the Riverside International Raceway. He was very sociable and played bridge, cribbage, gin, and hearts and ran the Wii program at the Senior Center in Indio. He was generous with his gifts and his time, loved to drive, and brought Meals on Wheels to other seniors in the area for many years.
Paul is survived by his sister, Elaine Ebert (Chris); and children, Dr. William Racicot (Sheilamarie) of Poway, CA, Mark Racicot (Linda) of Langley, WA, Patricia Racicot Manso (Joseph) of Washington, D.C., Lynn Racicot Reilander (Jerome) of Sidney, BC, and Mimi Racicot (Jani) of Seattle, WA; twelve grandchildren, and five great- grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. His son, Lee Racicot, predeceased him in 2014. He was also predeceased by our mother, Eleanore Racicot, who died peacefully on September 16, 2015. In commemoration of both our parents and the loving childhood they gave us, memorial services starting with Mass at 10am will be held at St. Gabriel's Church at 13734 Twin Peaks Rd. in Poway, California on Friday, July 27, 2018. followed by a reception.
