Phyllis Eleanor Hinton Obituary
PHYLLIS ELEANOR HINTON, age 91, passed away Dec. 24, 2016 in Corona, CA. She was the wife of the late Charles E. Hinton (the love of her life) and the daughter of the late Walter R. Sr. & Martha Chambers formerly of Amanda, OH. She is survived by her daughter Cindy Young (Terry Leffler) of Corona, CA; granddaughters Kimberly Hall (Brian Wadsworth) of Perris, CA & Michelle Sherwood (Steven) of Corona, CA and seven great grandchildren: Travis, Caitlyn Eleanor, Charlize "Charlie," Bailey, Wyatt, Sloan, & Sutton Grace. She is also survived by her brother Walter R. Chambers (Candace) of Pataskala, OH as well as, numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. Her many good friends include Kathy Knutson and Nick Hollis. They enjoyed good times together for over thirty years. Phyl was born and raised in Tarlton, OH. After graduating from H.S. in 1943 she moved to Columbus Ohio, where she met her soul-mate Charlie Hinton. They were married on June 25, 1949 and made their home in Columbus, OH. Their life together was built on a Christian foundation. They belonged to Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Bexley, OH and were also active in school affairs throughout their daughter Cindy's school years. They adored granddaughters Kimberly & Michelle, even to the point of relocating to Southern CA to be near them. following Cindy and her family's move from Ohio to California in 1978. They drove their 1970 corvette convertible cross country and arrived in CA. on June 25, 1981, their 32nd wedding anniversary. They made their new home in Corona, CA where they were active in the local Corvette Club. They earned many trophies for their "mean green machine." Phyl was also active in their HOA and served as Board President for several terms. After the death of her husband in 1995, Phyllis volunteered at Corona Regional Medical Center from 1996 until 2006. She attended Crossroads Christian Church in Corona, CA until 2007, when she suffered a debilitating stroke and was no longer able to live alone. After a period of adjustment, she accepted her new home at Inspirations Home Care in Corona, with a determination to make the best of her life. She had many wonderful caregivers. However, Lidia Borges went the extra mile. She understood Phyllis' needs and desires, even when words were lacking or unclear. Phyllis also enjoyed a special and wonderful relationship with her daughter. She is truly going to be missed by her family and friends. A Celebration of Her Life will take place on Sat., January 28, 2017, in the chapel at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park at 11500 Arlington Ave., Riverside, CA. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a reception/luncheon at Hidden Valley Golf Club, 10 Valley Dr., Norco, CA. A private interment, for the placement of Phyllis' ashes in the HINTON family bench will be scheduled at a later date at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Inspirations Home Care for their many years of outstanding personal care and to Dr. Robert Nelson and his medical staff at Citrus Valley Medical for the wonderful individualized care and attention Phyllis received during the last nine and half years. In addition, they would like to thank the excellent and compassionate staff at Inland Valley Hospice for all of their services during the final two months of Phyllis' life.
