Randall Lewis Shultz Obituary
RANDALL LEWIS SHULTZ April 12, 1955 - August 29, 2016 Randy passed away peacefully on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 3 P.M. He had suffered a fall Saturday while in Big Bear on an annual fishing trip with lifelong friends. His last day was filled with guy jokes, guitar playing, and good food because Randy was the uncontested griller. He is survived by Diane Shultz, his wife of 36 years; his son Cory Shultz and daughter Heidi Hartfield, their spouses Christina and Aaron, and two granddaughters, Ava and Milana Shultz. He also leaves three siblings, an extended family, and many bereaved friends. Randy and Diane have two dogs: Dylan and Poco. Dylan, Randy's constant loving companion, continues to look for him and wait at the door; Poco, who is only interested in Poco, not so much. Randy earned a Master's Degree in Education and taught U.S. History at Lake Elsinore High School for 34 years. He only recently retired and was beginning his second career at Azusa Pacifica University as a Master Teacher. He was a beloved colleague of staff at Lake Elsinore and spent his entire career enriching the lives of thousands of students, sometimes whether they wanted that or not. Randy also taught track for 20 years, likely inspired from his high school days as a California State Pole Vaulting Finalist. Randy was an avid surfer and a determined guitar player; so determined in fact that daily he would arrive at school at 5 in the morning-with no one else around-to put in the time to master his latest musical challenge, perhaps The Eagles, Neil Young or Jackson Browne. All of us will miss Randy's sweet sarcasm, which was usually aimed at himself; well, usually. Randy was the vibrant heart of his family and his efforts have kept us together even though miles separate us. His untimely death will be a painful void for many, many years to come. We love you Randy and always will. Services will be held at Lake Elsinore High School Gym, Elsinore High School, 21800 Canyon Drive, Wildomar, CA 92595 on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 4 P.M. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Surfrider Foundation, www.surfrider.org
