RAYMA VAUGHN HUNTER-ASHER Born January 9, 1934 - passed into peace August 12, 2015 In 1934 Rayma's extraordinary life began in Lake Charles, LA. with parents, Winnifred Marybell Renfrow and David Hawkins Hunter. She attended Lake Charles High School and went to College in Lafayette. LA. She left Lake Charles in 1954 to marry William Hilton Hunter who was in the Air Force. That began Rayma's lifelong love of travel and volunteering her time to causes she held dear to her heart. They lived in Madrid, Spain for 4 years with her children, Debra Ray, William Hilton Jr. and David Michael. Her church was important to her. She attended the First Methodist Church of Lake Charles, LA., Arlington Methodist Church of Riverside, CA. and Spurgeon Methodist Church in Santa Ana, CA. She was very active in United Methodist Woman's group, she volunteered in countless programs in the church and surrounding community. Her husband William (Bill) passed in 1986. She continued with her volunteering and also maintained her full time employment at The Broadway Department Store from 1970 until her retirement in 1995. During the later years at the Broadway she met Robert (Bob) Asher, the "Love of Her Life" They married in 1997. Rayma's family grew with the addition of Bob's children, Norman, John, David and Greg. Rayma's son, David Michael gave her a grandson, Justin Ryan of France and a granddaughter Paulina Sophia of Germany which created another extended family in Europe. She continued her travels. "One Foot in the Road" Rayma had an unbelievably charmed life! December 2013 brought a diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma. She was proud of her family support and care during her illness. Throughout her challenges with MM she continued to laugh, travel, and remain active with her volunteering until her last breath. God is good. She will be cremated and interred at the Riverside National Cemetery with her first husband. Memorial services will be announced at a later date in Santa Ana, CA. and Lake Charles, LA.
