Raymond Mikel "Papi" Hernandez Obituary
RAYMOND "PAPI" MIKEL HERNANDEZ Age 69, was called home to be with the Lord on June 26, 2015. He was born on November 7, 1945 in Riverside, CA "Bell Town" and later became a permanent resident of Colton, CA. Raymond enlisted in the U.S. Army on August 20, 1968 as a private E1. After basic combat training, he was assigned to Charlie "C" Company 2nd Battalion 7th Calvary Regiment 1st Calvary Division. Raymond's bravery earned him several awards during his Vietnam service including: The "Bronze Star Medal" for having distinguished himself by heroic acts, the "Air Medal" for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight, AV, and the "Army Commendation Medal" for valor distinguished by heroism, and meritorious service. He was promoted to sergeant E5 on February 6, 1970 and was honorably discharged from the Army on August 12, 1970. He retired after more than 40 years from the University of California Riverside as an Irrigation Maintenance Specialist. Raymond is survived by his wife Esther Hernandez; his 3 children: Donald Rubidoux (wife Regina), Nick Hernandez (wife Laura), and Anita Reyes (husband Jack); 5 grandchildren: Nicole Rubidoux, Vanessa Rubidoux, Serynna Hernandez, Derek Rubidoux, and Aaron Hernandez; 2 brothers, 2 sisters: Johnny Avila, Pete Castillo, Josie Pena, and Eva Ruby; numerous nieces and nephews. Raymond was preceded in death by his mother Anita Castillo. Viewing and Rosary will be on Thursday, July 2 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Green Acres Memorial Park and Mortuary, Bloomington, CA. Mass will be Friday, July 3, 11am at Immaculate Conception Church, Colton. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park, Bloomington, CA.
