RAYMOND NOCELLA 8/10/23 ~ 7/10/16 Raymond Nocella, 93, passed away on July 10, 2016, at his home in Riverside, CA. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Elizabeth (Liz). Ray was born in Brooklyn, New York, to James and Agnes Nocella on August 10, 1923. He joined the Army when he was 18, moved to Denver, married, and had three children, James, Joan and Jerry. Ray moved to California after being honorably discharged from the Army and divorcing. He began working at El Toro Marine Base where he met Liz. They married in 1960 and raised two children, Wayne and Becky. Ray had many occupations from burning money at the Denver Mint to Sergeant with the Orange County Search and Rescue Team. Ray and Liz retired in Nuevo, California, where they enjoyed country living and raising their granddaughter, Elizabeth. In July 2011, Ray moved to Magnolia Village in Riverside, where he was lucky enough to find a friend in Joan Recny, who preceded him in death in 2014. Ray is survived by his children, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends. The family would like to thank A-One Hospice, and specifically Araceli (RC) and Michael Bautista, for taking such good care of Ray until his death. Ray will be buried at the Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, California on Friday, August 5, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Ray requested friends and loved ones donate to A-One Hospice, 13788 Roswell Avenue, Suite 117, Chino, California 91710.
