Raymond T. Whalon Obituary
RAYMOND T. WHALON 2/2/45 - 4/18/14 Ray was born in Providence, Rhode Island on February 2, 1945. He passed away on Good Friday at Loma Linda Hospital surrounded by his family. Ray most recently resided in Menifee, CA with his wife, Edna. They moved to this community, post-retirement, to be near his parents. In earlier years, they lived across our nation in support of his career ~ from Bradford, PA to Austin, TX to Kansas City. As a young man, Ray joined the U.S. Navy as a submariner in 1963. He went on to have a very successful career in the oil trade. Ray was a life-long learner who continued his education through Master's courses at the University of Southern California and on-going business courses. He retired in 2006 from his position as Vice-President of Manufacturing for Columbian TecTank following his Vice Presidency at Trico, Industries. He brought his incredible business acumen, sense of fair play, and empathy to his career. First and foremost, however, Ray was always there for his family - with a love and support all encompassing. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Edna; his mother Mavis Whalon; his son Brendan and his family - wife Melina, and Ray's grandchildren Ava Monet, Ethan Thomas, and Emma Jean; his three sisters Lois Fisher, Janice Langis (Michael), and Beth Tarbuck (Paul). He touched so many, gave so much and will be missed more than these words can ever say.
