Raymond Vaughn Prickett Obituary
RAYMOND VAUGHN "VAUGHN" PRICKETT Vaughn left us peacefully to join our Heavenly Father's Kingdom on Friday March 14, 2014. Vaughn was born to proud parents Raymond and Bonnie Prickett on September 16, 1949 at Saint John's hospital in Santa Monica, California. When Vaughn was just two years old, his parents moved their farm operations from Venice to Hemet where Vaughn began his school years and ultimately graduated from Hemet High School in 1967. Growing up in Hemet, most friends and residents remember Vaughn as the dominating defensive lineman that helped lead the Hemet High School Bulldogs to their championship seasons during the 1960's. However, those who were blessed enough to know Vaughn personally quickly realized he was a dedicated and loyal friend, a protective older brother and had a deep love for his family. Immediately after high school, Vaughn began driving a hay truck and wasted no time starting a family of his own to continue sharing these gifts from the Lord as a caring, loving father. For many years Vaughn worked hard to ensure his family never went without and had the opportunity to pursue their dreams, ambitions and interests while growing up in Hemet, like he himself had done. But more importantly, Vaughn instilled a love for the Lord and a strong belief in our savior, Jesus Christ, within each of his children. He had a great love for life and could see the Lord's work in the beauty that surrounded him as he traveled the roads of our country. Vaughn was preceded in death by his mother Bonnie Prickett and is survived by his father Raymond Prickett, his loving wife Carol Prickett, his sisters Kathleen Stocks and Laura Van Cleave, his children Shelli Kissel, Kelli Blevins, Timothy Prickett, Joshua Prickett, Matthew Prickett and stepdaughter Sarah Shishmanian as well as his 22 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held Monday, March 24th at 2:00 PM at The First Presbyterian Church, 515 E. Kimball Ave in Hemet. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to the Make a Wish foundation (www.wish.org) on Vaughn's behalf.
