Richard G. Culverhouse Obituary
RICHARD G. CULVERHOUSE 1938 - 2016 Richard, after a short illness, passed away on September 21, 2016. Richard was born in London, England on August 9, 1938 and emigrated to the U.S. with his mother and father in 1949. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Julia Gomez Culverhouse; their son Augustine Culverhouse; grandchildren Zachary and Elizabeth Jane and great grandson Nolan. Richard served in the U.S. Army and received an Honorable Discharge in 1959. The Culverhouse Family moved from Redondo Beach to Lake Elsinore in 1977 and there enjoyed many years living and entertaining at their lake side home. Richard always said arriving in Lake Elsinore was like being in Heaven. Everyone will always remember the Easter egg hunts, the beach barbeques when Richard cooked enormous amounts of food on a huge BBQ pit, the Halloween events, 4th of July parties with a crowd of friends, and so many more good times. All who knew him were always impressed at the amazing projects Richard was always hard at work on. Richard especially enjoyed taking friends out on the lake, water skiing, sailing out of San Diego on their sloop, and rebuilding boats and cars with Augustine in the earlier years. Richard's lifetime career and business involved specialized work on British motor vehicles as well as all other vehicle types, and was the owner/proprietor of Culverhouse Motors on Grand Avenue. Finally, Richard is remembered by all who knew him as a quiet, reserved gentleman with a dry sense of humor, a spirit of helpfulness to all and as a truly honorable man. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
