Richard J. Bensiek Obituary
RICH BENSIEK (RICHARD J. BENSIEK), age 80, longtime resident of Corona, CA, passed away March 24, 2016. Born in 1935, raised in the St. Louis area, he attended local schools before attending the University of Missouri at Colombia, graduating in 1958 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He met and married Tacy Adams in 1957 while at college. After graduation Rich worked as an engineer in Ohio. Tired of cold winters he moved the family to California in 1961. After working at Kaiser Steel for two years he became a civilian engineer and supervisor at the Navel Weapons Station in Norco. During this time, he obtained an MBA from Cal State Fullerton. Retiring in 1991 after almost 30 years of service with the Navy he obtained a general contractor's license. He worked on building and remodeling projects for several years, settling into rental property ownership and management. Rich was an active member of the Corona community. He was Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 999 (1978-1986), being recognized and awarded by the Scout District Leadership numerous times, including The District Award of Merit in 1986. He was involved with the Friends of the Library, serving as the group's President for two terms and many committees between 1990-2013. He enjoyed activities such as tennis, camping, gardening, traveling, playing bridge and attending theatrical plays, concerts and musicals. Survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Tacy; children, Margot, Teri, Jay and Jeff; grandchildren, Melissa, Katie, Wyatt, and Trevor; and older brother, Bill, a resident of Virginia. Rich's immediate family will host a "Celebration of Life" event on Saturday, April 9, 2016 in the Corona Public Library's Community Room between 1 PM - 4 PM. In lieu of flowers please make donations in "memory of Rich Bensiek" to either Boy Scouts of America Temescal District - please designate donation is for "sending a scout to camp" or The Yosemite Conservancy (Yosemite National Park non-profit group).
