RICHARD RUDOLPH RUTHER Richard Rudolph Ruther peacefully passed away at his home in Redlands, California on Saturday, August 13, 2016. He was 86. Richard was born on May 24, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio to Rudolph C. Ruther and Anna M. Brunswick. He grew up in Cleveland until the age of 14. Then at 14 he attended Augusta Military Academy in Fort Defiance, Augusta County, Virginia where he participated in wrestling, basketball, managed the champion football team and played golf. He graduated with honors. Shortly after Richard enlisted in the Marine Corps and honorably served our country in the Korean War. Richard had been a long time resident of San Bernardino, California. He was an excellent golfer and member of the Arrowhead County Club. Richard was a successful businessman, owner of the Uptowner Restaurant in San Bernardino and the renowned Clara's Restaurant in Redlands. Richard was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Clara Ruther, whom was the love of his life and was married to for over 45 years. He is also survived by his three daughters: Misty Scalisi Sims, Dari Kelley, and Gina Caruso Pappanastos, and his grandchildren: Rudolph & Allison Scalisi, Alexander Scalisi, Katharine Kelley, AnnaMarie Sims, Seven Pappanastos, and Clara Wood. Richard Ruther was a man of integrity, loyalty, and honesty. He was disciplined in every aspect of his life and has passed these honorable traits onto his loved ones. He was very much loved and will be deeply missed. Richard's final resting place will be at the VA National Cemetery in Riverside, CA. Semper Fi!
