Rita Margaret Quinn Obituary
RITA MARGARET QUINN, 86, passed away peacefully in the company of her loving husband in their home on December 19, 2015 in Corona, California. Rita was born on August 28, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY to Leo and Margaret St. Laurent. It was in Brooklyn where she first met her future husband, John Quinn, at the age of 12. They fell in love nine years later as young adults and after their first kiss, John knew she would be the one he would marry. On January 26, 1952 at Our Lady of Refuge Church in Brooklyn the two were wed, and their love story began. Together they lived in Brooklyn, NY; Levittown, NY; Parsippany, NJ; Northridge, CA; and finally Corona, CA. They raised four children together and with each city they resided, Rita created a loving and supportive home for her family. Her greatest joy in life was to nurture those around her. She made sure that all four of her children, near and far, felt her love everyday. A true caregiver, Rita also attended to her parents and in-laws in their later years of life. Whoever she touched, she showered with love and nurturing support. In 2009 Rita suffered a stroke which left her dependent on her husband John. She maintained her upbeat personality and continued to laugh many times a day with her husband who she would lovingly refer to as, "The Crazy Irishman". Together, John and Rita spent the next seven years falling in love all over again, and expressed how much they meant to one another every single day. On the day of her passing, John and Rita spent the day surrounded by love with their daughter, son-in-law, five grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren for an early Christmas celebration. When returning home, John held Rita tightly in his arms and the two pretended they were back in the 1950s on a date. Later that afternoon, Rita passed away peacefully in her bed with her loyal canine companion, Pepper, and her best friend and husband of 64 years, John, holding her hand. A real life love story, their relationship has inspired their four children and twelve grandchildren to love unselfishly and live life to the fullest every single day. Her infectious laugh, unwavering love and support, and her classic goodbye of, "be careful," are already missed by all. However, Rita leaves behind a legacy of love, which will continue to be a guiding path in her family's life for generations. Rita is survived by her husband John of Corona, CA; brother Arthur St. Laurent of Monterey, CA; daughter Christine McFillin (Bill Lee) of Bethlehem, PA; daughter Jacqueline Hodge (Jim) of Corona, CA; twin sons John Quinn (Angel) of Acton, CA and Kevin Quinn (Linda) of Palmdale, CA; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Margaret St. Laurent; her brother Leo St. Laurent; and her sister-in-law, Lois St. Laurent. Private services will be held.
