Robert D. Macomber Obituary
ROBERT D. MACOMBER Robert D. Macomber, born July 25, 1925, passed away May 12, 2016 in Riverside, California. After serving in the United States Army in the European Theater in World War II, he moved to Riverside in 1946 and enrolled in La Sierra College, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1950. He taught in the La Sierra College Department of Chemistry from 1950-1952 and from 1952-1955 he worked as a research chemist at the Mira Loma Quarter Master Depot, Mira Loma, California. He returned to the classroom in 1955 and for the next nine years taught chemistry at Pacific High School in San Bernardino, California. He earned a Master of Arts degree in 1958 from California State University, Los Angeles, and a Juris Doctorate degree in 1964 from the University of Southern California. He then engaged in the general practice of law and embarked on a civic service career, serving on the Governing Board, Alvord Unified School District from 1965-1971, Riverside City Council from 1971-1974, and was appointed to the Riverside Municipal Court bench by Governor Ronald Reagan in 1974. He was elected to the Riverside County Superior Court in 1986 and served until his retirement in 1994, after which he continued to serve as a bench officer by appointment until 2012. A lifelong Seventh-day Adventist, he is survived by Marjorie, his wife of 65 years, two brothers, five children, 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 4, at 4:00 p.m. at the Corona Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2550 S. Main St., Corona, CA 92882.
