Robert Dale Oswalt passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2017, in San Bernardino, CA. Bob was born in Mishawaka, Indiana on October 25, 1928 and soon after the family moved to Torrance, CA. Robert attended the Southern California High School Military Academy, in Long Beach, CA. He then attended Pepperdine University in Los Angeles, CA. Bob married Betty Lou York in 1954. Robert primarily worked as an office manager, accountant, and comptroller for NCR Corp., Stoner Electronics, and A.B.C. Construction Co., respectively. Dad was most content working for himself doing income tax returns, furniture refinishing, and upholstery/carpet cleaning.
Bob was a long-time committed Mason and a 32-degree Shriner of the Scottish Rite. Robert, was active in the Boy Scouts of America, and the Tachikawa, Japan Sister-City program with San Bernardino, CA. Dad enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing, and golfing. He was predeceased by his father, Dwight; mother, Edna; stepfather, Paul; sister, Enid; and niece, Sharon. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou; sons Philip (Kathy) and Rodney (Gina); five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Robert's Celebration of Life services will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Saturday, December 9, 2017, at 4:00PM - 785 N. Arrowhead Avenue, San Bernardino, CA 92401. Any donations can be made to the , and/or, Shriner's Literacy Program.
Robert Dale Oswalt, was a selfless and honorable man. We miss our friend, father, and husband; and eagerly await to see him again.
