COLONEL ROBERT E. MILLER
Colonel Robert E. Miller passed away October 25, 2017 after a brief illness. He leaves behind his daughter Christy Dawn Goethe, two grandsons, Austin and Gavin Goethe of San Jacinto and several other family members residing on the East Coast.
Bob was born in Plandome, Long Island, New York on August 1, 1946. He graduated from Lehigh University with a Bachelor's degree in business and was briefly employed by Price, Waterhouse accounting firm in New York until he was called to serve his country in 1968. After initial basic training he enlisted in OTS beginning a 34 year career in the Air Force, specializing in aircraft maintenance and logistic support. His assignments took him to Air Force bases in Texas, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino and finally to March Air Force Base in Riverside County where he rose to the rank of full Colonel. Bob retired from his distinguished military career as the Commander of the 452 Logistics Group at March on August 1, 2002. After retirement, Bob became the Executive Director of the March Field Air Museum where he initiated several innovative projects. Bob pursued his love of acting and was associated with the several community theaters in Rialto and Riverside. He was especially involved with the Redlands Footlighter's Theater where he frequently played leading rolls. In addition to acting, Bob was involved with the Moreno Valley Community Band, the Moreno Valley Wind Symphony and Swing Bands. When free moments allowed, Bob would be sailing his Catalina 38 or serving on the race committee at Southwest Yacht Club in San Diego. He will be remembered for his quick wit, his incredible sense of humor, his compassionate leadership for all those who worked with and under him, his professional acting skills and love of music and sailing. There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at the Cortner Chapel, 221 Brookside Ave, Redlands, 92373 on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors or a veteran .
