Robert Hugh Pfaffenberger Obituary
ROBERT HUGH PFAFFENBERGER Robert Hugh Pfaffenberger was born in Oakland, CA on April 20, 1918 and passed away peacefully on October 31, 2013 in Hemet, CA at the age of 95. He was the only son of Irving and Dorothy Pfaffenberger, and served this country in Europe during WWII in the 112th Liaison Squadron through October, 1945 as a technical sergeant. Discharged in Southern California, he met and married Eleanor "Jean" Izenour on August 1, 1947 in Glendale, CA. They recently celebrated their 66th anniversary in 2013. Both Bob and Jean spent their careers working for Southern California Edison Co, in Los Angeles, Rialto, Long Beach and Rosemead causing them to move from Glendale to Rialto to Newport Beach, to San Dimas to Huntington Beach. When they retired, they moved to Running Springs and finally to Hemet in 1985. Their active retirement was long and busy with traveling to all parts of the United States, wearing out several motor homes, camping monthly with the Reddy Eddys, an RV club of Edison retirees, and raising funds for Dogs for the Deaf. Bob loved music and sang whenever he could, even joining a barbershop quartet for a time. He loved his country, history, reading, and even learned to operate a personal computer in his 80's. He was an animal lover and generous to charities that helped homeless animals, and he leaves behind a heart-broken rescued Jack Russell mix named Julie. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Jean of Hemet; his daughter, Carol Ann Hamilton; and son-in-law, Ronald S. Hamilton of Yucaipa. His only grandchild is grandson Ryan S. Hamilton, of Indio, married to granddaughter-in-law Terri. Terri and Ryan's two children, Sierra and Trent, are Bob's only great-grandchildren. Graveside services are planned for 11 AM at Forest Lawn, Covina Hills on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his name to any local animal assistance , or Dogs for the Deaf, 10175 Wheeler Road, Central Point, OR 97502.
