Robert Paul Dalton Obituary
ROBERT PAUL DALTON passed away in his home surrounded by family on July 28, 2015 in Highland, CA. He was born to Gerald and Bonita Dalton on May 2, 1935 in Russellville, Arkansas. His family left Arkansas and settled in Eureka, CA where he attended and graduated from Eureka High School. He later moved to Southern California and resided in Fontana and Riverside and the last 10 years in Highland. He owned and operated his own Transfer and Bottom Dump Trucks and worked out of the All American Asphalt Plant in Corona until he became ill with lung cancer. He survived 20 years following his cancer and enjoyed Genealogy and corresponding with friends on his computer. He had a gift of gab and could talk to anyone. While he tried to appear tough he had a soft spot in his heart for children and animals. He was very knowledgeable and could tell you how and why things worked. He was fascinated with learning words and their definitions and challenged himself to use them. He loved music and could name almost any song and the artist who recorded it, especially the oldies. He was very resilient and could bounce back when no one believed he could. He loved vacationing in June Lake, CA with family and Pismo Beach where he enjoyed his clam chowder and sea food. He is survived by his mother Bonita Dalton; his wife Joan and his beloved dog Maggie; daughters Lori Green, Jenny (Ken) Shin, Julie (Howard) Stone; step children Cindy Smith and Gordon Smith; grandchildren Megan Latta, Amy Blair, Marley, Hannah and Abigail Shin, Christian, Noah and Angel Stone, Jason Dalton and Kyla Pulu; sisters Donna Figlioli, Janis Ballou and brother Gerald (Bud) Dalton. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Gerald; son Jeffery and sister Margaret. Services will be held at Preston and Simons Mortuary Chapel in Riverside on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 11:00am with burial to follow at Olivewood Memorial Park.
