COLONEL RODNEY L. SOHOLT MD peacefully went to heaven on April 16, 2015 at his home in Riverside, CA of natural causes. Rodney was born July 7, 1933 to Leonard and Hope Yantis Soholt in Ketchican, Alaska. Rodney graduated from the college of William and Mary in Virginia in 1955. The following year he was commissioned to report to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma where he received orders to join the 105th Artillery Battery just outside of Seoul, Korea. He served as a forward observer for the unit. After he returned from Korea, Rodney decided to settle in Southern California and go to medical school. After completing some undergraduate work at UCLA, he was accepted to the California College of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons. Shortly after graduation and internship, Rodney accepted a position with Obispo Medical Group in Long Beach. He married Paula in 1960. And In 1966 he moved his family to Riverside which he was told by a colleague would be a good place to start a medical practice. He served the Riverside community for more than 40 years as a family practitioner and he even made house calls. Dr. Rod later joined the Army Reserves and was called to serve in Desert Storm. He was stationed in Ft. Jackson, S. Carolina for 5 months. In 1995 he sold his medical practice and began pursuing mission work in Mexico (with Liga International), South Africa and Cambodia (with parishioners from Christian Life Center). Dr. Rod was a strong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America and Riverside's Teen Challenge mission. He also served several Riverside high schools as a volunteer, performing athletic physicals and serving as a field physician at sporting events for more than a decade. Dr. Rod was generous and well-loved by his family and community. He is survived by his wife and loving partner of 54 years Paula; sons Chris, Eric, Dane, Rennik and pre-deceased by son Paul; and sister Deanna. He has 8 grandchildren, Carrie, Lauren, Eric Jr., Sadie, Uma, Lars, Madelyn and Sebastian. A memorial Service in celebration of his life will be held at Christian Life Center, 9085 California Ave., Riverside, CA 92503 on May 8th, 2015 at 9:30 A.M. Burial will following the service, 11:45am at Riverside National Cemetery with military honors.
