Roger Dale Williams Sr. Obituary
August 29, 1951 ~ October 23, 2017
Roger Dale Williams Sr was 66 years old and lived in Hemet, CA with his wife Lisa Williams for almost 20 years. He was born in Riverside, CA on August 29, 1951 to Calvin & Mary Nell Williams. He was raised in, graduated high school from and left for the U.S. Army in Rubidoux CA. After returning home from Vietnam he lived in Riverside, CA where he married and had kids. He also joined the Painters Union and retired some 25 years later.
Roger was an avid Angels baseball fan and he was also very involved in Little League even as a coach. Except for the last 2 years of his life, every summer he would travel southern CA in an attempt to watch the playoff games. In August he would sit for hours in the stadium watching the "Western Regionals" in San Bernardino, CA and then came the Little League World Series on TV. Baseball was his game. Roger loved NASCAR as well. When the California Speedway opened in Ontario, CA he had his seat in the grandstands. Cramped in that seat he watched the party going on in the infield. The following year he got HIS spaces in the infield. His spaces were known as "Tent City" and he even won a contest naming him "Mayor of the Infield". For many years with the help of his family and friends the party went on in the infield.
Although he had memberships with the American Legion and the Moose Lodge his lifetime membership was with the VFW Post #2266 in San Jacinto CA. "Pops" loved the "Meetings at his mailbox" with all the Rosemont neighbors. They were more than friends, they were FAMILY.
Roger loved his Jesus. He would sit with anyone and tell them how Jesus could be their Lord and Savior. By many of the congregation at Community Christian Church of Hemet Roger was known as "Muffin Man" and "Cookie Monster". As part of his service to CCC, Roger delivered baked goods to first time visitors to say "thank you for visiting and we hope you come back".
Above all he enjoyed, appreciated and loved his family and friends. Roger was liked by many, loved by most and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Roger passed away into Jesus' loving arms on October 23, 2017 in Loma Linda CA.
Honey, My heart is broken and it may never heal. My wonderful memories of you have made me laugh and cry on a daily basis. Just know that I will miss and love you every day for the rest of my life … Love, Lilly
