Rosalie Blevins Obituary
ROSALIE BLEVINS It is with great sadness that the family of Rosalie Blevins is reporting her passing on April 15, 2013. Grandma Rosie, as she was known by family, and Rosie, by friends, was born on June 20, 1922, in Los Angeles, California to Yugoslavian parents. She was very proud to be a first generation American. Rosie moved to the Riverside area in 1946 with her husband, Hal Blevins, a young retired WWII United States Air Force pilot. Through the years, she was active in the PTA, Women's Clubs, and most of all the Society for the Preservation of Dixieland Jazz. She and Hal, a trombonist, enjoyed many wonderful years of traveling to all parts of California listening to and performing in Dixieland jazz concerts. Rosie was devoted to her family, and she will be greatly missed as the family matriarch. She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Hal. She leaves her children, Retta (Gilbert), June, Ken (Judy); six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Joe, Eneida and Hiram, and Villa Health Care Center for their support and care. Graveside service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA on Fri., May 3, 2013. Please meet at Staging area #5 at 10:45am. Services will begin at a committal shelter at 11:00AM.
